Cher Lloyd has changed. When we caught up with her before Swagger Jagger was released she seemed a little nervous, a bit guarded, and slightly on edge throughout our chat - but when we sat down with her yesterday she had transformed into the definition of relaxation.
Gone was the caginess we saw before, and Cher was happy to talk calmly about anything. Obviously chuffed “and a bit surprised” about Swagger Jagger getting to number one (she celebrated with a Chinese - “which I have almost every weekend anyway”) Cher didn’t seem worried about With Ur Love’s chart position.
"I don’t feel under pressure," she told us.
"You know, making a record is more about me giving something back to my fans, its not about necessarily getting the right amount of sales to make me number one.
" ‘It has to be number one’ is not my main focus, it doesn’t have to, but if it is it’s a bonus for me."
Since you asked (thanks guys), we prefer With Ur Love a whooole lot more to Swagger Jagger, and love the soft, girlie video too.
"I don’t know why people think I’m a hard person, I’m a big softie," said Cher.
"It’s probably because they only see me when I’m performing and of course it depends what song I’m performing.
"Swagger Jagger was a very hard hitting song, the lyrics were all about peple talking about you, so of course my facial expressions are more into it.
"I wouldn’t have been all girlie saying ‘You cant stop tweeting about me’, it just doesn’t click."
With Ur Love is released on Sunday, and Cher’s debut album Sticks and Stones is out on November 7th
